Travel insurance tip: Are you heading off to hurricane-prone areas this summer?
It’s the hurricane season again. From June until November, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration estimates that there will possibly be 9 to 14 named storms, and 4 to 7 hurricanes, with about 1 to 3 hurricanes reaching Category 3 status. While the Caribbean and some parts of Mexico are dream destinations for tropical vacations, these areas are at risk of hurricanes as well. Thus for travelers planning their vacation in hurricane-prone areas, they should buy their travel insurance now, as advised by travel insurance expert Chris Harvey, CEO of Squaremouth.com. He explained that they won’t be eligible for coverage after announcements about an upcoming storm is made public.
When a storm grows big enough to be given an official name, it’s assumed to be a “foreseen” event, meaning insurance won’t cover any related losses.
“Policies are written to protect insurance companies from people trying to claim for a disaster that everyone knew was about to happen,” Harvey explained.
“The first a traveler should do is inspect the policy’s fine print to know how soon they need to buy insurance to be able to claim for losses caused by a hurricane,” he said.

It is important to note insurance policies for key hurricane-related phrases such as “complete cessation of your common carrier services for 24 hours,” “hurricane warning,” “accommodation at destination rendered uninhabitable,” “covered for inclement weather,” or “complete cessation of common carrier services.” These phrases have huge impact on claims and related details should be examined by travelers before deciding which insurance policy to choose.

Just so you know, I plan to maintain only two blogspot blogs from now on and forget about the ones on aimvotal.com.
Basically, my plan is to bring over the posts on those blogs to my blogspot blogs. Yeah, since Google ‘nuked’ my aimvotal blogs, I think it is better to have Google pay for hosting.
I still have a full year to finish what I paid for my aimvotal.com hosting account. So the transfer will be gradual and complete by next year.
Ok, I hope you have fun blogging. 🙂
Oh, travel insurance. 🙂 Never did that though I’ve also never toured a hurricane prone area.
Getting travel insurance can also be beneficial when the unforeseen happens (due to work, family, health, etc.) and you have to cancel your trip before you ever depart. Many policies will reimburse you for deposits, saving you money and grief.
