The Best Holidays to Egypt are in Sharm el Sheikh

The Best Holidays to Egypt are in Sharm el Sheikh

There are plenty of beautiful places in Egypt, but Sharm el Sheikh is one of the best holiday choices. The area itself has higher safety ratings than most cities in the country. Although it has history dating back centuries, the city is modern and offers plenty of resort accommodations, dining choices and countless attractions. Some tourists and locals talk about the “Pharaoh’s Curse” on this city, which they say causes tourists’ stomach pains. To avoid this “curse,” simply avoid drinking tap water. It is simply bacteria in the water, not a real curse.

Sharm el Sheikh is known for some of the best dives in the country. Most boats that host the dives also offer scuba equipment for affordable rental prices. Unspoiled coral reefs, sea life and land formations are all seen in a typical day of diving in the Red Sea. Snorkelling is another popular activity, especially for those who haven’t done before. Some of the most favoured areas to snorkel are Naama Bay, Naqb Bay and Hadaba Beach. Travellers who are not comfortable snorkelling or diving can also enjoy seeing the sea life and coral formations. Thanks to the crystal-clear water, all of these sights can be seen during a glass-bottom boat ride. With several different beaches lining the area, spending a day in the sun is another favoured relaxing activity among tourists.

Attractions away from the ocean are also plentiful. Hikers will enjoy the many intriguing nearby areas. Mount Sinai is one of the most well-known mountains in ancient history. It is referenced in both Islamic and Christian religious history. Also near the mountain is another attraction of interest – St. Catherine Monastery. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the monastery is located in the small protected city of St. Catherine at the foot of Mount Sinai. Colored Canyon is another choice for hiking. The land structures, formed by wind and nature, are beautifully-colored and have unique shapes.

Desert excursions are another option for entertainment in Sharm el Sheikh. Transportation through the desert includes camels or quad bikes. Experienced travel guides lead these excursions daily, preparing tourists to brace for the heat and intense sun in a safe way. There are some interesting areas nearby that can only be accessed by boat. Ras Mohammed National Park and Tiran Island are both outdoor attractions, offering hiking, recreation or relaxation. The city itself also has plenty to view. Old Town Sharm is the old “downtown” area of the city. It is full of interesting shops and vendors. Prices for souvenirs, food and any other item are notably lower than the rest of the neighbouring areas. The old architectural structures reflect the styles of the country and its past. Nightlife venues are lively, fun and full of visitors each night. Sharm el Sheikh is well-lit and attractive during night hours. It is a fun choice for a private holiday, couples’ getaway or family holiday.

Sounds funny… “To avoid this “curse,” simply avoid drinking tap water. It is simply bacteria in the water, not a real curse.”
I can imagine people attributing it to a curse though!
