Packing wisely for a holiday trip

Packing wisely for a holiday trip

Packing for the holidays is a challenge for the traveler. You have to ensure that you include everything you need in your luggage. This will make your holiday travel much more comfortable and enjoyable. So you won’t forget anything important, make yourself a list of trip essentials – items you really need to bring and can’t leave behind. It also helps to get the weather forecast during your travel period to know the types of clothing and shoes to match not just your trip itinerary but the weather as well.

Don’t pack clothing for holiday travel that can easily get ruined or stained, so you won’t be self conscious about any drink or liquid you may spill on it, particularly if you plan to attend parties and someone else might bump into you. Such holiday bloopers or accidents can happen and may ruin your vacation fun, be it a holiday to Egypt, France or to any tourist destination. Don’t let petty incidents like these spoil your holiday by being prepared with the right outfits.

It’s advisable to contact the hotel you intend to stay. Browse their website to be sure, and check items they have which you need so you can exclude them from your luggage. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and the like, are some of the common items that you can leave behind, which may be provided by the hotel. A blow dryer or an iron may even be ready for the guest. If you have to pack liquid items, try to buy small containers and make sure these items are placed in a separate bag: cosmetics bag for your make up or a freezer bag for food. In this way, they won’t leak or get on your clothing.

One precaution is to leave expensive jewelry and items behind, if you aren’t able to wear it when you travel, to avoid its getting lost or stolen. Take time to fold up items – like shirts and clothes – and arrange them properly. You’ll be surprised at how much room is wasted in a suitcase due to disorganized items. To maximize the amount of space you have, it is suggested to place small things such as socks and underwear to fill items with hollow space, such as shoes or bags. Find ways to travel light and pack wisely.
