Keeping your child secure during travel
While having our lunch at a fast-food joint, we saw a child bawling while walking on the aisles. He looked about 5 years old and was looking for his mom. Uh oh. The waiters were trying to pacify him and we suggested that they better go to the mall’s information center to page the mother. This scene is not unusual especially in crowded places. I remember when we were at the Royal Flora festival in Thailand, the children were given bracelets with their names and additional information so they can be easily identified should they get lost.
We know how kids can easily get distracted with something along the way. Just like my niece while we were at a big mall few years back. She was then a hyperactive toddler that time. I was so worried when she went ahead of us and I lost track of her. After I retraced my steps, I found her happily watching the fishes in the aquariums of a pet shop. Whew.
With many gadgets coming up these days, a child GPS provides additional safety for the children especially during trips. This tracking device monitors a child’s location and movement wherever he/she is. Though it helps to pinpoint and provide information about where your child is, a GPS cannot replace a parent’s supervision on a child’s behavior particularly with training them and making them understand safety precautions during travel.
Personally, a GPS would be a big help for monitoring and tracking a child but it would also be a big risk if you depend on it solely in keeping your child secure. Nothing beats a parent’s common sense and alertness when it comes to his own child’s safety and protection.
