Advancement in the travel industry and its impact on the environment

airplane photoRecently, there’s been news in the travel industry, about a proposed high speed railway to link London and other major cities in England and probably Scotland. The route being proposed is highly contested by concerned environmental groups since it would pass through a beautiful countryside, a habitat for lush vegetation, migrating birds and wildlife which would be significantly affected with such railway where 6 lanes of road will be built and speeding trains at 250 mph will be passing by. The proponents of the project though consider it as a contribution to UK’s low-carbon future, as more people would be off commuting via trains than driving their cars.

Today, there is much talk about saving the environment – that this is now abused by man, and that with global warming, it seems Nature is lashing back with vengeance. Thus, many are now relentlessly pursuing the drive against pollution, one cause of this problem. Unfortunately, some institutions and companies consider profit more than the environmental impact of a project. It’s also good to know that there are some companies that integrate green technology in their production and services.

Talking about the environment, another important concern for industrial companies is to have environmental insurance. For instance, Beacon Hill Associates is an insurance company that provides Site Pollution Liability insurance coverage and other environment related insurance concern. Whatever is the site condition of the client, they can offer a customized program tailored to one’s particular premises. Beacon Hill Associates also offer insurance coverage for those who have risky jobs, such as contractors or those who have jobs as painters, plumbers, electrician, etc. They give coverage for pollution claims which may arise from any contractor’s covered and completed operations.

There is such a wide gap between making money and taking care of the environment. We have to figure out a way to accomplish both, at least meet somewhere in the middle for the time being.
