Pata-an Mountain Resort, Negros Occidental

Pata-an Mountain Resort, Negros Occidental

Another upcoming destination in Negros Occidental is Pata-an Mountain Resort. I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about this resort, enough to make me curious about it and finally had the chance when we had to accompany some friends who were invited for an overnight stay there.

The resort is located in Barangay Mailum, Bago City, specifically in Sitio Pata-an, thus the name. Going there, we took the same route as going to Mambukal Mountain Resort, turning right upon reaching the road going to PNOC. It’s best to ask for directions from the locals to be sure. The drive was not a smooth one as some parts of the road were under repair, but nevertheless we enjoyed the trip, amusing ourselves with hilarious jokes and stories.

Arriving at the resort, we saw some vehicles lined up by the roadside which served as the parking area. The entrance is just a simple wooden hut with a guard, and upon going in, you are led by a pathway winding up to the pool and cottages. Few steps from the entrance, you can already hear the rushing sound of the waterfalls.

Pataan is not as wide, spacious and equipped with more amenities as other mountain resorts such as Mambukal or Buenos Aires, but it offers such a relaxing place, ideal for a weekend getaway.

The steep trail going up to the waterfalls may be tricky to some, but it’s definitely worth it. Upon reaching the falls, one can’t help but feel breathless, not just because of the physically-challenging hike but more so because of the impressive scene that’s sure to reward those who made the climb. With the base of the falls just few steps away – what an exhilarating experience seeing and hearing the powerful rush of water from above.
