Cebu Pacific baggage information, excess baggage rates, check-in and boarding guidelines

Cebu Pacific airlines

UPDATED post, read here: Cebu Pacific baggage information and rates, check-in and boarding guidelines as of November 2011

Flying via Cebu Pacific? Here are some helpful information for domestic and international flights regarding allowable baggage weight, excess baggage rates, prepaid excess baggage (PEB), baggage reinstatement fees (BRF), and rules for check-in and boarding times.

Before going on a trip, make sure to weigh your baggage as it really pays to know beforehand. Refer to the allowed weight for handcarry and checked baggage below. In case your checked baggage excess weight would be more than 5 kgs, then it’s better to avail of Cebu Pacific’s prepaid excess baggage (PEB) fees. Check out the fees below for every additional 5 kgs increment of excess weight.

Also, when purchasing tickets, don’t choose the GO Lite package (no check-in baggage at Php100 less) if you are not sure about bringing a checked baggage or not. Otherwise you’ll have to pay the baggage reinstatement fee (details below) should you show up at the counter with a baggage for check-in. This penalty fee when added to your GO Lite fare would you cost more than the regular GO Fare seats, so better decide wisely about checked baggage issues when buying tickets.

CHECK-IN AND BOARDING GUIDELINES

Check-In Counters:
OPEN: Two (2) hours before flight departure
CLOSE: Forty-five (45) minutes before flight departure

A confirmed booking shall be cancelled and released to waitlisted guests if you fail to check-in within the prescribed time.

Boarding Gate:
BE THERE: At least thirty (30) minutes before flight departure
CLOSE: Fifteen (15) minutes before flight departure

Guests not at the boarding gate at the prescribed time will not be allowed to board the aircraft.

BAGGAGE INFORMATION

  13. agnes

Hi, we are travelling from overseas (we as in 7 persons) and taking cebu pacific to Legaspi, as we have a check in baggage of 23kilos, for sure in domestic we will have excess, how much will we be charge for the excess baggage..Thanks…just so confused of different explanations…

  14. happysteps

Hi Agnes, Cebu Pacific charges Php120 per kilo of excess baggage. Domestic passengers are only allowed 15kgs free baggage, so if you have an estimated 23 kgs, that would be 8 kgs of excess baggage x Php120 = Php960.

You might as well avail of their prepaid excess baggage (PEB) feature, you need to indicate this upon purchase of the tickets NOT at the check-in counter. For PEB of 10 kgs, you pay Php960 (refer to the table above), at least you get an extra 2 kgs for the same price.

Please visit the links given above to get more details or better yet, contact their customer care. Hope this helps. Have a safe and comfortable trip!

  15. mattzmom

Thank you so much for your informative post. Do you know about Cebu Pacific’s cargo rates? We’ll (3 passengers) be going to PI from an international flight which allows 2 check-in weighing 23 kgs each. We’ll be paying a lot when we transfer to our domestic flight. I’m wondering if it is a good idea to send our other luggage through their cargo service.

  16. happysteps

Hi mattzmom, so sorry, I haven’t any idea about their cargo rates. You can consider sending some of your stuff that are not urgently needed via Balikbayan Box. This is how my cousins pack their stuff for pasalubongs, the box usually comes weeks after. You have to sort out those stuff that are not that urgently needed though.

If you really do need your stuff as soon as you arrive, then better contact their customer representative. Their website is http://www.cebupacificair.com. Have a safe and comfortable trip!

  17. ryan joseph

can i carry a backpack(almost 7 kilos) an carry on bag(7 kilos) and some sort of pasalubongs without paying extra charges?(my check in luggage is 15 kilos exact)

  18. happysteps

Ryan Joseph, for the handcarry, if you go beyond the 7 kilos limit, it’s sometimes not a problem as the Cebu Pacific check-in counter crew are not that strict about weighing them, BUT I have also experienced stepping on their weighing scale carrying my bag as they note the total kilos. It’s a bit of a risk to exceed the weight limit for the handcarry, it really depends on the check-in crew if they will allow you, as they’re not consistent on their rules on handcarry weight limit.
