Dream destination: London

Dream destination: London

What is your dream travel destination and why?” This question was posted as one of the mandatory tasks in this travel blog’s recently concluded 5th anniversary giveaway. I had fun going over the replies in the comments section; I was not expecting any destination in particular so it was such a realization that most of the comments considered Europe as the place they wish to visit, some even hoping to live there! It’s quite interesting as well that London got the most votes from the giveaway replies, with Paris next. While relatively expensive than most destinations, according to surveys, European cities are the world’s best places to live.

I do admit London is also one of my dream destinations. During our family vacation in Europe few years back, we were able to visit Finland, Czech Republic and Germany. My parents visited Austria as well. As we have two family members based in Europe, we were able to stay longer; I stayed there for almost three months. Now that we’re back home, my mom and I would fondly reminisce about our Europe vacation which was almost like a dream; then we would light-heartedly declare that our next target destinations in Europe will be Rome, Paris, and of course London.

So what makes London a top tourist destination? I know it offers a lot to its visitors, whether they’re interested to soak themselves in its rich history and culture, experience some of its contemporary attractions, or exciting nightlife. Tourists have many options for accommodation, from London bed and breakfast types to luxury hotel suites.

It could be boring for some but I would prefer exploring the museums and visiting some of London’s beautiful buildings and landmarks such as the Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Westminster Abbey. It would also be nice to get to know the locals and maybe spend tea time with them. Of course, I’m fond of shopping for souvenirs, so this would be part of my trip itinerary. Yes, I am on daydream mode again. LOL.

How about you, what’s your dream travel destination and why?

I would love to have a boat ride on the River Thames. Going through the whole stretch from Gloucestershire up to the North Sea is something I am dreaming about.
